We as Safety N Us, we champion the rights, safety, and well-being of children everywhere, therefore, let us build a brighter tomorrow, both online and offline. As we celebrate International  Children’s day, we should be reminded  of our collective responsibility to safeguard children’s rights, dignity, and well-being.  As Safety n Us, we are committed to protecting children from online harm, we also ensure that their digital experiences are safe, informative, and empowering.

Children’s Rights

Right to Quality Education:

Every child has the right to access  equitable, and quality education that:

             – Develops their personality, talents, and skills

             – Prepares them for responsible life in society

             – Fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-  solving

 

  • Right to Protection from Harm:

              Children must be protected from

              Abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)

              – Neglect

             – Exploitation e.g. child labor

              – Violence (bullying, corporal punishment)

             – Discrimination (based on race, gender and  disability)

 

  • Right to Privacy:

              –Children have the right to:

              – Control their personal information

              -Confidentiality and secrecy

               -Freedom from online harassment and cyberbullying

 

  • Right to Access Information:

 -Children have the right to:

-Access accurate, reliable, and age-appropriate information

– Seek information from various sources (media, internet)

– Receive guidance on safe and responsible information-seeking

 

These rights are fundamental to ensuring children’s well-being, development, and empowerment, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
